Below is an outline of the classes we run and the rules for those classes. We are open to running pretty much any class, as long as we have 5 or more entrants in order to cover the minimum amount of marshal points. The only restriction is we are not allowed to run Nitro/ICE cars due to noise.

Touring cars: 17.5 blinky, 13.5 blinky, 13.5 Modified

17.5 Blinky, 13.5 Blinky and Modified Touring Cars all use BRCA 1/10th Electric On-Road Section technical specifications (2020) as detailed here with the following deviations/clarifications:

Dry tyre: any commercially available prebuilt rubber tyres. Max 2 sets per meeting.

Club Sport (Novice)/Rookies cup

The club sport class is for complete novice racers and is perfect for youngsters as well as King of Clubs Rookies Cup racers. This class is for lower priced touring car kits or second hand touring cars. The most popular cars for this class would be Tamiya TT-01’s or Tamiya TT-02’s. Other chassis would also be eligible, e.g FTX Banzai or Maverick Strada TC/DC. Older touring car chassis would also be allowed as at this level, as the biggest factor in performance will be driver ability. Rules are basic so as to be inclusive, but are designed to limit top speed.

The regs are fairly simple:

Either the cars are built to KoC Rookies Cup regulations as found here or to the specs below. These specs favour the Rookies cup cars.

Chassis: Any 1/10 scale touring car style, 2WD or 4WD chassis with independent suspension all round.

Body: Any 1/10 scale touring car, GT, rally car, pick up or NASCAR shell with a max width of 200mm.

Motor: Any ‘silver can’ (ie non-rebuildable) 540 brushed motor of 25 Turns or higher

*Note: (The Maverick Strada has a 22 Turn motor that although in theory is faster the car has a much lower FDR as standard, which evens things out and so the motor is allowed with standard gearing. The FTX Banzai has a 550 size motor that is not legal. Non compliant kits are allowed to run, but just cannot score points)

ESC: Any 60 amp maximum rated ESC (eg Hobbywing 1060, Tamiya TBLE-02)

Final Drive Ratio: This is to be a maximum of 6.16 to 1 (so the number calculated has to be a higher number than 6.16 - see below to calculate)

Tyres: Any 1/10 rubber tyre, no additives, no tyre warmers. RC Touring Car racing tyres are recommended as they have much better grip than most tyres provided in these type of kits. If unsure about tyres, please ask. We will probably be able to sort you out with a used set that will work for free.

Batteries: Any 7.2V NiMH or NiCd or 2S hard-cased LiPo (7.4V or 7.6V) batteries are allowed. LiPo’s must be charged/discharged inside LiPo safety bags at all times. Maximum fully charged voltage should not exceed 8.41V on any battery.

*To calculate FDR divide the Spur teeth by pinion and multiply by the internal ratio, FDR = (Spur÷Pinion) x Internal Ratio

e.g. Tamiya TT02: Spur - 64T, Pinion 27T, Internal ratio 2.6, FDR = (64÷27) x 2.6 = 2.37 x 2.6 = 6.16

The Maverick Strada TC/DC has a FDR of 6.67 and the FTX Banzai has an FDR of 6.5

Super Sport (Intermediate/Advanced)

This is more akin to traditional Tamiya Classes held at a lot of UK clubs, but allows for a more diverse range of kits. If it proves popular a more developed rules set may be needed.

Chassis: Any 1/10 scale touring car style, 2WD or 4WD chassis with independent suspension all round.

It is anticipated that Tamiya chassis would be most popular (for example, but not limited to; TT01, TT01E, TT02, TT01 Trucks, TL01, M03, M05, M06, FF01,FF02, FF03). But 1/10 touring car chassis from brands such as HPI, FTX, Maverick, HSP (Flying Fish) and ZD Racing are welcome as would be older touring car chassis.

Body: Any 1/10 scale touring car, GT, rally car, pick up or NASCAR shell with a max width of 200mm.

Motor: 15 Turn or higher, 540, brushed, non-rebuildable (‘silver can’) motor.

ESC: Any 80A maximum rated ESC (eg Hobbywing 1060 or 1080, Tamiya TBLE-02)

Batteries: Any 7.2V NiMH or NiCd or 2S hard-cased LiPo (7.4V or 7.6V) batteries are allowed. LiPo’s must be charged/discharged inside LiPo safety bags at all times. Maximum fully charged voltage should not exceed 8.41V on any battery.

Max FDR: 5.11

Tyres: Any 1/10 rubber tyre, no additives, no tyre warmers

Suspension: Free

*To calculate FDR divide the Spur teeth by pinion and multiply by the internal ratio, FDR = (Spur÷Pinion) x Internal Ratio

Eg, Tamiya TT01: Spur - 55T, Pinion 28T, Internal ratio 2.6, FDR = (55÷28) x 2.6 = 1.965 x 2.6 = 5.11

1/10 scale F1

BRCA 1/10th Electric On-Road Section technical specifications (2020) as detailed here with the following deviations/clarifications:

Wet tyre: Sweep, Front: SW-F1FV5G-MPG-BRCA, Rear: SW-F1RV5G-28RPG-BRCA.

Dry tyre: any commercially available prebuilt rubber tyres.
